Who Do You Trust?

If you are serious about what you do then you need to be serious about who you trust.

Who do you trust around you on a daily basis?

Who are you hanging out with?
Are they making you better?

Bad company corrupts good morals!

Spend the quality of your time with people that are focused on the task at hand.
People that are positive about you getting to the next level!
People that believe in you!
And people that are going to hold you accountable to your ultimate goals!

I once trained an athlete that had all the potential in the world and is now doing nothing with his life.
Why? Becasue he chose to allow the people around him to determine his future.
He chose to be distracted by what everyone else was doing.
Eventually that company pulled him away and he no longer has ambitions and goals to be great.

It is a choice and it is your choice.

What are you going to choose?

The Greatest Athlete

How bad do you want to be a great athlete?

So many people talk about it but very few actually do what it takes.

I once heard a quote that I will never forget and that I use on a weekly basis while working with athletes:

"A great athlete does every day what a good athlete does occasionally."

You see, a great athlete does whatever it takes on a daily basis, while a good athlete does it when it is convenient.

If you want to be great check out my latest article on Five Questions You Must Ask Yourself:

Are You Complacent?

Are you content with who you are as an athlete?

Complacency - self-satisfaction especially when accompanied by unawareness of actual dangers or deficiencies.
That is the definition of complacency according to Webster Dictionary.

My definition: Being too comfortable where you are at.

Are you content with how things are going?

Are you content with where you are at
-Physically, Mentally, Spiritually, Athletically,etc...

I want to challenge you today to get a little uncomfortable with your current situation.

I want to challenge you today to not get complacent!

I want to challenge you today to get out of your comfort zone!

Never be satisfied until you have reached your ultimate goal, until you have seen your vision come to past.

Try something new today to get you out of your comfort zone and take your game to the next level!

9.69...EASY!

9.69 seconds!

That was the new world-record time set by Usain Bolt in the 100 meter dash this weekend at the Olympics.

If you did not see this race you should go and watch it.

This guy made it look easy!

My point is when you prepare and put the time in to accomplish something you should expect it to work out.... and you should expect it to be easy.

Now don't get me wrong, I am not saying the road to get there was easy.
The preperation time is never easy and never obstacle free.

This 100m was not even this guys specialty, the 200m was.

But he was determined!

The average sprinter is 5'10, he towers them at 6'5 which some thought would be a dis-advantage.

But he was determined!

And he went and absolutely shattered the world record!

What are you determined to accomplish?
Prepare now and once you get there, make it look easy!

Are You a Competitor!

Swedish wrestler stripped of bronze medal!

That is the headline on yahoo and you can view it here:
http://sports.yahoo.com/olympics/beijing/wrestling/news?slug=ap-wre-medalstripped&prov=ap&type=lgns

This wrestler was stripped of his bronze medal for unsportsman like conduct during the medal ceremony.

Was he robbed? Maybe.
Did he lose? Yes.

I am not condoning his actions, but after reading the article it gave me an appreciation for what a competitor this athlete is.

Yes, sore losing...
Yes, maybe a grown man should not be acting like that...
And yes, that was probably not a good representation for his country.
I understand that.

But hear me out....
This guy came into the Olympics with one goal in mind and that was to win the gold medal.

Anything less than that was a failure in his eyes.

After losing in the 2004 world games, he was out to get revenge.
He has trained 4 years with one goal in mind...to get a gold medal.

And when this dream and goal did not become a reality he was outraged, he was dissapointed, he was upset....

THIS GUY HAS A PASSION.... a passion for what he does.
THIS GUY IS A COMPETITOR....and he hates to lose.

He was not willing to face the fact that his dream and goal did not become a reality.

Imagine if you approached everyday like this guy.
Imagine what you could accomplish with this kind of passion.
Imagine how great you could be at your sport if you did not except anything less than greatness.
-Anything less than the best.
-Anything less than a Gold
.

Compete for what you want!
Never settle for less and never give up!
Chase your dreams and don't look back until they become a reality!

Go get it!

Be The Best!

I just read this heading on yahoo:

Michael Phelps eats 12,000 calories per day!

The first thing you probably said is, "Wow, Thats a lot of food!"

The first thing I said is, "Man, this guy is disciplined!"

You see, this guy knows what it takes to be the best but the thing that seperates him is he does it.

So many people know what it takes but they just don't do it.

This guy knows that he needs that many calories daily in order for his body to recover and for him to perform at the highest level.

This guy knows it and he does it!

Are you doing everything that you know you need to be doing on a daily basis to be great?

Somebody is...Don't let them pass you by!

Are You Ready For The Next Level?

How bad do you want to be a great athlete?
How bad do you want to get to that Next Level?
How bad do you want to to be the best at what you do?

What are you willing to sacrifice?

Are you ready to sacrifice something in order to see your dreams come true?

Start watching a little less TV, spending a little less time socializing and make time for your dream.

Maybe you have got to start getting up a little earlier so that you can train.
Maybe you have got to begin to eat a little healthier so that your body can recover faster.
Maybe you have got to add an additional meal to the plan so that you can gain that muscle you need to be able to compete.

Everything good in life takes a little sacrifice!

Today make a decision to do what it takes to accomplish your dreams and goals.

I am telling you... that sacrifice will be worth it!

Now go and do it!

Michael Phelps Baby!

Even if you have not been watching the Olympics you probably have heard about Michael Phelps winning his second gold medal of the 2008 Games.

He won it in the freestyle relay...and if you did not see it you need to go and watch it- what a come from behind victory.

The French ran their mouth and at the end ran out of juice!
The anchor leg for the French, the same guy that was trash talking appeared to be dazed-not wanting to believe he just got smoked.

And Michael Phelps dream for EIGHT Gold medals in one
Olympics game is still alive.

You can take two keys to being successful out of this swim competition:

1. DREAM BIG!.
Phelps dreamed very big, and his dream isn't looking so far-
off as others once thought. This guy is focused and you can see it every time they show him on national television. He is not going to let anyone talk him out of his BIG DREAM.
It is time for you to Dream Big and then go and chase those dreams until they come to pass!

2. BACK IT UP!
If you want to be successful then don't trash talk like the french. There is a big difference between cockiness and confidence. Stay confident and humble this will take you further and you will make more friends along the way.
Oh Yeah, and if you are going to trash talk at least be able to back it up!

Go USA!

Dream Big -Expect Big Things - And Go and Make Them Happen!

Competition!

With the World Olympics kicked off and in full swing, one thing became more clear to me than ever.

Athletes everywhere are dreaming of one day themselves being there and everyday taking a step closer to make it a reality.

Competition is very REAL.

And everyday it becomes even more real.

If you've been THINKING about doing something, Now Is Your Time!

Maybe training harder...
Maybe starting a nutrition program...
Or doing something to take your game to the next level, you'd better realize you need to get your a@@ in gear and get started.

Because all that stuff you've been putting off until tomorrow, well, it's going to come back to bite you in your a@@ if you don't.

Somebody wants it just as bad as you do and somebody wants it even worse than you do.

I'm not here to baby you and tell you everything is going to be ok.

I'm here to tell you there are a lot of other athletes out there DOING what you are TALKING about.

There are a lot of other athletes out there that want to be great.

Oh Yeah, and just a little reminder.... you're not the only athlete reading this email.

See You At The Top!

Make The Decision

Yesterday I was rehabbing an athlete and had him up in the pool performing a workout. We performed a complete workout which took close to an hour.

Why am I telling you this?
Because this same athlete last week did not know how to swim, he was actually scared to even get into the water.
One week later he is not only in the water, but swimming and performing a complete workout.

You see, he made a decision that Now Was The Time. That he was going to get over the fear and that he was going to swim.
Was it easy? Not at all, but he decided that it was going to happen.

All week......
He new he could do it.
He began to tell himself that he could do it.
He surrounded himself with people that believed he could do.
He never quit.
And he went and did it!

You always can do more than you believe that you can do. You have got to make a decision to become strong mentally and begin to conquer obstacle in your life on a daily basis.

So many athletes never reach ultimate success simply because they are mentally weak.
This athlete that went and conquered the fear of swimming has conquered many other things in his life and continues to conquer on a daily basis.
He has got it! That mentality that he can not be stopped. That he will dominate in all that he does and that the only one that can stop him is himself.
Becase of this he is getting payed alot of money to do what he loves to do and is enjoying life.

Dont let obstacle hold you back! Go conquer one today!
Let this motivate you:

Never Quit!
Never Give Up!
Go and Conquer Something!

Until Next Time,

Tomorrow!

I deal with athletes on a daily basis. Athletes that say they want to be great and get to the next level!
It amazes me how many times I have heard one of the following statements:
"I will get some shots up tomorrow, my girlfriend is in town."
or
"I didn't eat breakfast this morning, I woke up late and had no time."
or
"I didn't get to train today, I just got caught up with so many other things going on."

When I first started training athletes(8years ago) I would get done with the conversation and I would always think the same thing:
"Wait, this athlete says that they want to be great"..... And I would get angry!

"Maybe they just don't have the discipline that it takes!
Maybe they don't really want to be great!
Maybe they are used to making excuses and not ready for the next level!

Whatever the case may be it would always bother me. It would bother me because you never no what tomorrow holds!

Tomorrow is never promised!

I would always end the conversation with a quote I once heard:
-A good athlete does occasionally what a great athlete does everyday!-

Everyday Matters!
A Great Athlete has tremendous discipline and does whatever it takes on a daily basis to be great!
You cant just train when it is comfortable and convenient. You must work on your skill everyday to gain that edge over your competition.
Start today to separate your self from the good athletes by investing the time to become great.

Today Is Your Day!
Don't wait until it's too late and then look back with regret. That is a horrible feeling!

There is no tomorrow!

Here is a clip from one of my favorite movies about the value of today:

Remember-
-A good athlete does occasionally what a great athlete does everyday!-

What can you do today to take control of your future?

What can you do today to make yourself a better athlete?
What can you do today to guarantee yourself success?

Make today Count!
Take Control of your future... fight for what you need...Go and take it today!

Now Is Your Time!
